Overview Overdose Surveillance Epidemiologist is a public health professional who is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to drug overdose deaths. They use this data to identify trends and patterns in overdose deaths, and to develop strategies for preventing and reducing overdose deaths. They also work with other public health professionals to develop and implement public health interventions to address the opioid crisis. Detailed Job Description The Overdose Surveillance Epidemiologist is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to drug overdose deaths. They use this data to identify trends and patterns in overdose deaths, and to develop strategies for preventing and reducing overdose deaths. They also work with other public health professionals to develop and implement public health interventions to address the opioid crisis.The Overdose Surveillance Epidemiologist is responsible for:
• Collecting and analyzing data related to drug overdose deaths, including demographic, geographic, and temporal trends.
• Developing and implementing strategies to prevent and reduce overdose deaths.
• Working with other public health professionals to develop and implement public health interventions to address the opioid crisis.
• Developing and maintaining databases and data systems to track overdose deaths.
• Developing and presenting reports and presentations on overdose deaths.
• Participating in public health research related to overdose deaths.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
Job Skills Required
• Knowledge of epidemiology and public health principles and practices.
• Knowledge of data analysis and statistical methods.
• Knowledge of drug overdose deaths and the opioid crisis.
• Ability to analyze and interpret data.
• Ability to develop and implement strategies to prevent and reduce overdose deaths.
• Ability to develop and maintain databases and data systems.
• Ability to develop and present reports and presentations.
• Ability to work with other public health professionals.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal agencies.
Job Qualifications
• Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related field.
• At least two years of experience in public health, epidemiology, or a related field.
• Experience with data analysis and statistical methods.
• Experience with drug overdose deaths and the opioid crisis.
• Experience with developing and maintaining databases and data systems.
