Optician Job Description Opticians are responsible for helping customers select and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses. They must be knowledgeable about the different types of lenses and frames available and be able to explain the benefits and drawbacks of each. Opticians must also be able to adjust and repair frames and lenses.

What is Optician Skills Required?

• Knowledge of optical products and terminology
• Excellent customer service skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work with precision instruments
• Good manual dexterity
• Ability to work with computers

What is Optician Qualifications?

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification from an accredited opticianry program
• State licensure or certification

What is Optician Knowledge?

• Knowledge of optical products and terminology
• Knowledge of vision care products and services
• Knowledge of optical instruments and equipment
• Knowledge of eye anatomy and physiology
• Knowledge of optical laws and regulations

What is Optician Experience?

• Previous experience in an optical setting
• Previous experience in customer service
• Previous experience in sales

What is Optician Responsibilities?

• Assist customers in selecting frames and lenses
• Measure customers’ eyes to determine the correct lens power
• Dispense and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses
