Optical Laboratory Technician I Jobs in Illinois

Work experience training in a medical laboratory which provided a knowledge of generally accepted medical laboratory principles and practices.

Perform computer procedures for test requesting, canceling or crediting tests ordered. Verify billing information. Prioritize and organize work.

Perform required procedures to process specimens: centrifuges, aliquots, etc. Distribute samples appropriately; maintain specimen storage.

20% Verify and perform proper follow up for neonatal screens.

10% Perform routine maintenance procedures and function checks on laboratory centrifuges using established procedures.

Maintain the laboratory work area so that it is organized, neat and uncluttered.

Basic math skills, including fractions and decimals.

Supports laboratory functions through the preparation of media, reagents and associated tasks. 50%

Performs cleaning as directed including materials, equipment and Lab area. 25%

Manually and electronically records and maintains data relevant to the procedures executed. 10%

Assists in basic testing functions as directed such as preparation, set-up and clean-up. 10%

Assists in the operation of steam sterilizer. 5%
