Proven experience in teaching and tutoring, preferably in SAT and ACT exam preparation.

The Illinois Tutoring Initiative is a 2-year grant-funded project that will end after funding ceases.

Tutors will be matched on a semester basis.

Tutors will also be paid for required training and planning time and receive a travel stipend for any face-to-face tutoring sessions.

Working knowledge, principles and practices of office management/systems within a higher education environment, preferred. Demonstrates an understanding of underlying organizational issues.

Minimum of (7) years of relevant coaching or tutoring experience within a higher education environment; to include:

Independently manage the undergraduate collaboration and referral process.

Independently researches and maintains knowledge of emerging support strategies and the possible applications to enhance student support services.

Five (5) years of experience coaching or tutoring undergraduate students; and,

Cover letter describing specifically how your experience and qualifications meet the qualifications outlined for the position

Develop, plan, and teach academic skill workshops and group learning sessions.

Demonstrated tutoring or teaching experience required. At least one year of tutoring or college level instruction experience preferred.

Must have strong computer skills and proficiency in the use of technology for instruction.

Implement instructional strategies, materials, and technologies to assist students through individual or group tutoring sessions.

Teach seminars regarding a specific content area.

Manage content area tutoring budget and maintain fiscal records, which involves monitoring tutor schedules, timesheets, and associated paperwork.

Master’s degree in a science field, a humanities field, or in education

Experience developing and growing programs for students

Experience working in a post-secondary setting

Supervise tutors, including completing evaluations, processing payroll, and maintaining all related paperwork and records.

Recruit, interview, and hire tutors across the science OR the humanities and foreign language curriculum.

Assesses student skills for area of need or recommended content area

Previous experience working with elementary or middle school students.

Review student information and data from previous sessions in order to plan for tutoring sessions.

Conduct in-person or online tutoring sessions, 3 times per week for the duration of the semester session.

Utilize materials and or planning materials available to tutors or from recommended sources.

Submits session forms after each session that includes notes on performance/assessment information and planning notes for the next session.
