Office Surgery Scheduler Jobs in Iowa

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work with other OR schedulers and staff and communicate patient needs and responsibilities necessary prior to surgical procedures.

Provide education and guidance to incoming providers and staff to onboard and understand the OR scheduling process.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrates knowledge of effective strategies for working with diverse faculty, staff, and students.

1-year of experience working in a healthcare administrative environment.

Accurately schedules appointments, choosing appropriate appointment types, and correct data entry. Professional & responsive communication with physicians, patients, and departments.

Utilizes computerized scheduling and B/AR modules to maximize benefit for AVH and customers. Adapts software to meet needs.

Fiscal responsibility including reviewing and completing ABN’s, Insurance authorizations/waivers, and ensuring completed precertification as needed.

Records pertinent documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements, professional standards and hospital policy.

2-3 years of experience in related healthcare field preferred

Relatively high degree of analytical abilities

Conducts patient pre-certification on proper insurance approval for appointments and medical care.

Escalates non-routine issues to the practice manager or physician.

Two (2) years related experience in a health care organization is required

Previous surgery scheduling experience preferred.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

Maintains the surgery schedule, providing necessary information to patients and physicians.

Prolonged sitting and keying into PC/terminal -May require overtime -Able to work under deadlines and time constraints

Scheduling patients for surgery, completing facility paperwork.

Scheduling patients for diagnostic tests such as bone scan, MRI, CT, EMG/NCS, ESI.

Reviewing patient’s meds and health history to determine pre-admission testing needs.

Scheduling appropriate medical and cardiac clearances.

Scheduling patient for follow-up appointments and tests.

Required: High School diploma or GED. Evidence of Medical Terminology proficiency.
