Basic or limited experience in managing technical teams and interfacing with other engineering disciplines.

Basic understanding of design development and design review process (30%/60%/90%) with limited prior experience facilitating design reviews.

Basic understanding of technical scope development and entry-level understating of common engineering design document deliverables.

Current registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) is highly desirable.

Awareness of applicable codes and standards in common use at DOE and DOD facilities (ASME, NQA-1, IBC, IEBC, IEEE, NFPA, etc.).

Awareness of applicable LANL standards (Engineering Standards Manual (ESM), Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Maintenance, Conduct of Operations, etc.).

Knowledge of basic computer skills and word processors.

Basic knowledge and experience in a wide variety of facility maintenance activities including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems

Obtains and maintains DARHT Accelerator Operator qualifications;

Performs simple installations, maintenance, and repairs on basic equipment and systems under the direction of more experienced technicians;

Ability to understand and identify work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and experience with lock-out/tag-out of hazardous energy.

Basic skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on facility equipment.

1 year of Power Plant experience

2 years of non-generating nuclear power facility (e.g. Navy Nuclear training/experience or experience at a DOE facility)

salary starts at $37.17 and upon qualification 9-12 months salary rate jumps to $44.40 (non-union hourly position)

As directed, starts, stops, adjusts, tests and operates pumps, valves, switchgear, controls and other components of systems.

Performs operations in accordance with administrative procedures and NRC license including shift turnovers, log maintenance, etc.

Participates as a member of station fire brigade and will be required to function as fire brigade leader.

Previous commercial power plant experience.

Attend continuous NLNPO requalification training and satisfactorily complete associated exams.

Working knowledge of 10 CFR Part 70 is a plus.

Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Performs NCS analyses to define the safety basis for SNM operations.

Advises production personnel on the impact of process changes and facility modifications.

Executes computer models to evaluate normal operations and process upsets with regards to NRC License limits.

Determines limits and controls to maintain operations critically safe.

Education: High School Diploma plus two (2) semesters of college Chemistry and/or Physics is required.

Experience: One (1) year or less related work experience is required.
