Mosquito Control Technician And Laboratory Technician Jobs

Identify breeding problems and exercise good judgment in selecting appropriate control technique and/or treatment.

High school diploma or G.E.D.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assists in trapping and identifying mosquitoes and larvae for the purpose of determining targeted areas for chemical spraying.

Operates trucks and truck mounted sprayer; considers all environmental issues of area prior to applying pesticide (i.e., run-offs, ponds, lakes).

Assists in training of new spray truck operators (seasonal hires).

Investigates complaints of problem mosquito areas.

Cleans and maintains sprayer and ensures proper maintenance.

Ensures the safe usage of state owned, managed, and/or maintained grounds and facilities by the public.

Two years experience in operating and maintaining equipment such as farming equipment, construction equipment, trucks, boats, or small motor equipment.

Two years experience in maintenance trades such as grounds keeping, mechanical, building, or general carpentry.

Six months experience in record keeping.

Knowledge of prioritizing, assigning and reviewing the work of others.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Conservation Technician III

Experience: 0-1 years of experience (new hires will be trained and earned certification); prior pesticide experience preferred

Maintaining chemical and operational records in accordance with state requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED

Physical requirements: Must be able to walk customer’s property while carrying equipment weight of over 60 pounds

Experience calibrating, deploying, and retrieving environmental sensors

Bachelor’s degree, science major, 2+ years laboratory experience

Assist in initiating, executing, and completing research and experiments

Demonstrated knowledge of the practices and implementation of Integrated Mosquito Management, mosquito biology, control, and surveillance methods.

Knowledge of effective supervisory practices and techniques and personnel management.

Assists Activity Project Manager in overall management of activity/section of responsibility.

Demonstrated knowledge of mosquito control strategies, including source reduction, stormwater/drainage, control formulations and application, aerial operations, and mosquito habitats and species.

Skilled in research, design, and operational field trials for mosquito control.

Skilled in planning, scheduling, and overseeing day and nighttime mosquito control operations and staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Conservation Technician III

Knowledge of office procedures and equipment; knowledge of clerical and secretarial support functions.

Ability to learn basic knowledge of chemical distribution and their proper storage; ability to learn and adhere to proper safety procedures.

Physical demand requirements are in excess of medium work.

Reads and interprets a variety of instructions maps, diagrams, or schedules to determine appropriate spraying locations.

Sprays only during appropriate weather conditions to ensure localized and lasting distribution.

Cleans and maintains spray truck and equipment; flushes the spray system after each shift.

Experience as a soldering technician, rework technician or similar role.

Knowledge of IPC standards for soldering and rework.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Solder and rework surface mount and through-hole components on printed circuit boards (PCBs) according to drawings, schematics and instructions.

Use soldering irons, hot air stations, microscopes, tweezers and other hand tools to perform soldering and rework tasks.

Inspect and verify the quality of solder joints and components using visual inspection, magnification, X-ray or other methods.

To conduct laboratory work using best-practice laboratory techniques, and to consistently follow laboratory requirements.

Complete and maintain applicable training certifications as necessary.

Cleans patient’s environment / work area / equipment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel.

Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data.

CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or

CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required

Pallet to Waist (6" from floor) > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 50 lbs

Performs work outdoors, sometimes in steep, rugged terrain; works in all weather conditions, including high temperatures.

Operates and maintains a variety of specialized equipment and reports equipment deficiencies to supervisor.

Keeps accurate records of mosquito control product applications and inventories.

Utilizes a variety of mosquito traps.

Operates a District vehicle and keeps the assigned vehicle clean and in good working order.

Responds to public mosquito service requests.
