Microbiology Research Associate Jobs

Position requires a BS in Chemistry with 5-7+ years’ experience as a QC Manager in a pharmaceutical or Biotechnology organization.

Experience leading teams of QC professionals is required.

The position requires experience working in a cGMP environment and experience with documentation and implementation of quality systems.

Provides leadership and communication on all quality control matters with both internal and external groups and customers.

Assures the utilization of appropriate industry/regulatory standards and analytical tools to investigate any questionable results and develops/implements appropriate CAPA.

Develops and implements actions aimed at continuous improvement for the laboratory environment.

Compile data from multiple sources and prepare quality assurance metrics for presentation to Unit Director, Management, and the Executive Team.

Report quality issues, and trends to management in a timely manner.

Conduct research on best practices to test cannabis for microorganisms.

Collaborate with staff with the review of documentation related to microbiology discrepancies.

This person is responsible for the aspects of the following programs as directed by management:

Environmental Monitoring (Air Viable, Total Air Particulate, Surface Viable)

Clean Utility Monitoring (Water Sampling, Bioburden, Conductivity, TOC, Coliform and Nitrates)

Compressed Gas Monitoring (Collection, Air Viable, Total Air Particulate, Dragger Tests and specific ID tests.)

Product Testing (Bioburden, Endotoxin, Host Purity, or Non-Host)

Execute routine Microbial Laboratory work.

Participating in the daily activities and work assignments of research staff.

Planning and coordinating complex research experiments following standard operating procedures.

Working with Principal Investigator(s) to coordinate project activities and establish appropriate reporting procedures.

Contributing to scientific analysis and interpretation of projects.

Establishing and maintaining quality control measures for assigned project operations.

Making modifications to research procedures in collaboration with the Principal Investigator(s) and contributing to the writing of SOPs and protocols.

Experience with DNA extraction and analysis is required

Support tracking of contract lab tests and review of data from these labs.

Maintain compliance with applicable ICH, GMP and safety regulations. Notify management of unexpected results, procedural deviations and equipment problems.

Process environmental monitoring samples including plate enumeration and data entry.

Perform release and stability testing and record data per GxP requirements.

Participate in and may assist in writing laboratory investigations.

Participate in aseptic processing in a clean room environment.

Actively contribute to the maintenance of a clean, safe working environment in the laboratories.

Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.
