Mechanical Intern Jobs in Maine

Translate product requirements into a mechanical specification and test plan to be used for development

Conduct design analysis and testing, both structural and thermal, to prove design will meet customer requirements

CAD or analysis (FEA) tools exposure, and/or experience in mechanical design or analysis of electronic systems, structures and mechanisms

Must be able to apply the principles of Structural Mechanics to predict internal stresses and structural instabilities

Working knowledge of one programming language

Provide mechanical engineering support for both new product development activities as well as factory support of existing products

Demonstrated leadership experience with effective project management experience preferred.

High learning agility with the ability to analyze and synthesize data and then present it to management

Work closely with managers to complete specifically identified projects

Previous applicable intern, part-time or apprenticeship experience is preferred.

CAD experience required, Solidworks preferred.

Strong communication skills including technical writing, listening and speaking; ability to influence others

Experience building parts and assemblies using with 3D printers is a plus

Create new designs and modifications of existing designs using SolidWorks

Create studies and geometry comparisons of existing envelopes to confirm from and fit of revised /modified designs

Develop new SolidWorks assemblies and models from concept sketches

Execute product testing plans to verify new product designs

Must be enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program in order to be considered

Participate in the qualification of test fixtures

CAD design skills (Solidworks preferred)

Experience creating BOMs, mechanical drawings, and assembly/process documentation

Experience prototyping your own designs using various fabrication equipment: mills, lathes, CNC systems, hand tools, 3D printers, laser cutters

Experience working with vendors for custom components and sourcing specific hardware for designs

Experience with electromechanical systems: slides, motors, vision systems, sensors, etc.
