.The responsibilities of this position involve:

Comfortable working remotely with ability to work independently, manage own schedule, meet deadlines, and manage a team of writers

Manage editorial calendar, field pitches, and assign freelancers in and around Philly

Maintain and manage post promotion, including internal linking, guide updating, and home page updating twice a week

Top-notch editorial, research, and fact-checking skills

High level of interpersonal skills

Stay informed and research the hot activities and trends for local parents

Experience with digital publishing, online metrics and reader engagement.

Guide reporters to deliver aggressive accountability journalism, both short and long term.

Be ruthless about cutting down on “should-do” stories that don’t have an audience and focus the team on pursuing “must-read” stories.

Edit for readers by ensuring that we have active, engaging headlines and story framing that makes clear why each story matters.

Monitor and act on audience metrics to guide story decisions and grow audience.

Give clear direction to reporters on the front end and constructive feedback on the back end.

Manage updates to website pages via a CMS (Content Management System).

Experience of basic image editing and graphic design skills.

Previous experience of Google Analytics, HTML and CSS knowledge and/or an understanding of SEO basics would be desirable.

Experience of creating or updating a website using a CMS.

Experience using Concrete5, Wordpress or similar.

Have excellent problem-solving skills .
