Livestock Manager Jobs

Experience detecting health and disease symptoms in cattle

Post-secondary education in agriculture or related field

Basic computer skills working with Microsoft Office

Handle sires of varying ages and sizes in a calm, confident manner for optimum production

Work in a system using established protocols

Perform regular livestock care including feeding, cleaning, moving cattle, assisting with health testing and veterinary treatments, and other routine tasks

Demonstrated skills in journalistic reporting, writing and editing. Knowledge of editing and posting content within content management systems a plus.

Ability to make farmers/ranchers comfortable discussing some of their most closely guarded business and business management information.

3 years experience as reporter or editor.

Working knowledge of livestock business and interest in becoming the DTN/PF subject matter expert in those areas is beneficial.

Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet software, digital photography, videography and social media.

Understanding or interest in creating content that performs well in search engines, social media and other drivers specific to digital media.

Actively participate in ABS training opportunities to further develop knowledge and skills applicable to the department (ie. Rep. School).

Knowledge of and skill in farming operations and cattle handling

Mechanical knowledge and maintenance skills for emergency repair of equipment

Monitor calf and bull health for injury and illness and report to Veterinary department and Supervisor or Manager of department.

Be flexible with respect to job responsibilities and consistently strive to be an effective team member.

Develop new skills and assume greater responsibility within the department and organization.

Monitor, audit and document each of these activities including remote video auditing.

Performs various other duties as determined by the H Handling Manager

Knowledge of our industry is beneficial

Basic math and analytical skills

Including hands on helping with difficult hogs – both in the truck and the drive alley’s and kill side

Monitor sensibility check at bleed rail

Basic maintenance knowledge and skills.

Must be able to perform the job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

Experience using humane animal handling techniques.

Prior work experience in a USDA inspected beef, poultry, or pork facility.

Working knowledge in safety procedures.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

This position is a Pay Band 45

Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

Experience executing intensive rotational grazing, rangeland and forage management

Creation and execution of daily chores as related to cattle management

Organized self-starter with excellent observation skills, and the ability to self-manage and problem solve independently

Experience with equipment or infrastructure maintenance and repair is a plus

Maintaining herd health, including preventative care

Maintaining equipment and infrastructure such as fencing (High tensile and temporary electric fence building, maintenance, and use), farm equipment, implements, etc.
