Lathe Machinist Jobs

Experience in set-up and operation of Lathe Machines, preferred

Set and Operate machines to make Machine parts to specifications using machine milling machines

Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.

Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.

Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.

Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock to display placement of cuts.

Experience working to very close tolerances (+/- .0002)

Experience with reading blue prints for mechanical components

Experience inspecting parts and using inspection tools

Experience with changing live tooling

Plans and performs setups, layouts, and execution of work according to product specifications, blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.

Uses of special holding fixtures, counterbalances and counterweights for positioning and securing products in machines and to assure tolerances are achieved.

Operates overhead cranes and/or radio-controlled cranes when and where required and/or assigned.

Performs all work in accordance with plant safety rules.

Maintains highest quality standards in the execution of all assigned work.

Maintains all reports and recordkeeping as required.

Utilize knowledge of specifications to achieve desired results by reading blueprints and mechanical drawings.

Continuously learn and improve skills in manual machining.

Minimum of 2 years of previous experience operating manual milling machines, combined with trade school training.

Knowledge and application of basic shop math principles.

Comfortable using computers for data entry and basic tasks.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to follow instructions.

May perform additional cell responsibilities as required.

Aptitude to develop skill sets necessary to operate CNC machine.

Basic skills in shop math.

Working knowledge of precision measuring equipment including mics, calipers, comparators and indicators.

Participate in ongoing process improvements.

Inspect parts to required specifications utilizing various precision measuring devices.

General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, diagnostic software, cranes and rigging equipment

A minimum of 3 years’ machining experience

Experience in field machining a plus

Access area to be machined by climbing ladder if needed.

CNC/Manual Machinist for the manufacturing of overhead cranes and components

Ability to read and interpret shop machining drawings

Ability to set up and run CNC machines, manual lathes, mills, and drill presses working off shop drawings

Ability to hold tolerances to within .0005” as required

Able to use precision measuring equipment including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, and dial bore gauges

Consistently produce high-quality and accurate parts

Additional Job Requirements for Special Materials Machinist 3:

Ability to hear in a normal range (500 to 3000 htz)

Twisting the trunk or back

Requires the verification of parts and parts configuration to plan requirements using various high tolerance precision measuring tools

Must have the ability to read and interpret mechanical detail and assembly drawings, including GD&T, weld- joint symbols, and NDT requirements

Machining experience or related training

Experience including setup, operating, with vertical and/or horizontal turning/lathes/mills

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Applicant must be a self-starter with good problem solving skills

Perform editing of CNC programs per shop requirements.

Maintain personal and tool certifications, as required.

5+ years of experience utilizing Microsoft Office applications such as SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project

Experience using basic math (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)

5+ years of experience working with detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications

5+ years of experience using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators

Verify measurements of other millwrights’ work to meet ISO requirements

2+ years of Machinist experience

Knowledge of critical dimensions within the equipment.

Knowledge of operation of steam/turbo components

Ensure work safety and follow all rules and procedures; work area is kept clean and organized

Complete all required safety training

Set up and operate manual machines such as: lathes, grinders, mills.

Perform dismantling, fitting or assembly work required for tooling or production equipment.

A minimum of 10 years of experience in machining aerospace components.

Experience machining the following materials: nickel-based stainless steel alloys (Inconel, Monel, etc.), Copper, Aluminum and/or Titanium

Extensive experience with one or more of the following CNC machines: Mazak, Hass, Kuraki and/or DMG Mori

Experience with 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machining on both mill and lathe machines (Horizontal, mill/turns)

Working knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol or other CNC controls

Excellent blue print reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard

Knowledge of Shop, Facility and Division Safety Policies and requirements
