Continuously monitor bird health and production of laying hens in houses reporting findings to Production Manager/Supervisor

1 year experience in agricultural environment and animal care is preferred

Strong communication skills so that others will understand both verbally and in writing

In addition to education requirements, a minimum of five (5) years job-related animal care experience

Perform humane euthanasia of small animals.

Two (2) years of experience working in an animal shelter or veterinary hospital

Credit to meet these qualifications will be granted to former interns of DCAS

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Cleaning and sanitizing animal housing in accordance with protocol provided by ASPCA veterinarian team

Ensure animals are secured in a clean environment and provided with water and age, size and species appropriate food

Prepare facility prior to transport and prepare cage charts

Maintain facility professional appearance and cleanliness for the sake of safety of both animals and humans

Perform immunohistochemistry studies in animal models.

Compile and may analyze research data using various relevant computer software applications.

Assist with literature research, editing and preparing manuscripts, scientific illustrations and computer graphics for publication.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Obtain and maintain Rabies prophylaxis, Aseptic Technique certification, TAMU required training.

Forklift certification or ability to obtain.

High school graduate or GED.

Transportation: Transports tissue to and from biowaste facility as needed / directed. Assists with necropsy procedures.

At least one year of relevant animal care experience.

Compliance and training experience preferred.

Successful completion of the AALAS Laboratory Animal Technician certification preferred.

High School diploma or equivalency.

Ability to apply procedures for the care and handling of laboratory animals.

Must be in good physical condition and capable of lifting and carrying equipment or feed packages weighing up to 50lbs.

Some exotic animal experience preferred.
