Assist the Juvenile Justice Youth Development Specialist III in their absence and assume responsibilities for the operation of the assigned shift.

Experience in establishing rapport with persons from different ethnic, cultural and/or socio-economic backgrounds including the ability to deal tactfully with others.

Experience working with youth including residential care, treatment, counseling and/or rehabilitation of juveniles and/or adult offenders.

Demonstrated program measurement, reporting and evaluation skills.

Requires the ability to comply with all local and federal health requirements and/or mandates.

Preferred Qualifications (In order of Significance)

Coordinates youth placement with Aftercare Specialist and facility field representatives.

Monitors and evaluates youth's progress monthly, involvement of staff, and community with Aftercare Specialist and Resources Coordinators.

Prepares and executes case reports, progress reports, and vendor evaluations including financial reviews.

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Three years of experience in Probation and Parole.

Serves as shift supervisor and unit manager.

This position may be assigned to work at satellite locations located in West Feliciana or Jefferson Parish.

The Juvenile Justice Specialist 5 title has a Special Entrance Rate of

No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

This agency participates in the E-Verify system for verification of citizenship and employment authorization.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

The starting salary for the Juvenile Justice Specialist Trainee position is $18.99 / hour.

2nd and 3rd shifts receive shift differential.

Knowledge of good housekeeping tasks relative to maintaining the sanitary conditions of the facility.

One (1) year of vocational nursing experience providing direct patient care in a correctional health care setting;

Demonstrate the practical and theoretical knowledge of nursing care specific to the assigned work area/specialty;

Collects, interprets, and documents data to determine whether incarcerated persons have physiological and/or psychosocial risk factors.

Records and reports assessment data and makes appropriate referrals.

Communicates and collaborates with physicians and allied health professionals in setting priorities for the care of patients.

One (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse, OR;

One (1) year of vocational nursing experience providing direct patient care in a correctional health care setting;

Demonstrate the practical and theoretical knowledge of nursing care specific to the assigned work area/specialty;
