Review claims that have been put on hold, working to identify causes and address issues causing them to remain on hold

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.

Three to five years of previous billing or insurance experience.

Acts as a Lead IBC Assistant. Trains and orientates other IBC Assistants.

Performs collection follow-up duties on specific financial classifications, such as commercial insurance, self-pay, Medicare and Medicaid claims.

Handles discounts, adjustments and charge corrections.

Makes collection calls to insurance companies and patients to ensure timely payment of claims.

Communicate effectively with a wide range of customers using strong interpersonal/public relation and time management skills.

Required: One year experience in data entry, ten-key, health care insurance work and basic knowledge of accounting

Keep up-to-date on billing changes/requirements for all insurance payers and maintains reference manuals.

Preferred: Knowledge of insurance billing and coding

Three (3) years of recent acute care hospital billing and collection experience.

Demonstrated knowledge in self-pay collections.

Thorough knowledge of UB04 and revenue codes as it pertains to billing.

Extensive knowledge in Insurance claims appeals, and range of knowledge in ICD9, CPT, HCPCS coding principles.

Knowledge of Hospital payer contracts and reimbursement methodologies including but not limited to per diem, fee schedule, case rate and DRG's.
