Overview Infection Prevention Specialists are healthcare professionals who are responsible for preventing and controlling the spread of infectious diseases in healthcare settings. They work to identify potential sources of infection, develop and implement infection control policies and procedures, and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of infection control measures. Detailed Job Description Infection Prevention Specialists are responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating infection control policies and procedures in healthcare settings. They work to identify potential sources of infection, develop and implement infection control measures, and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of infection control measures. They also provide education and training to healthcare staff on infection control practices, and work with other healthcare professionals to ensure compliance with infection control standards. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of infection control principles, practices, and procedures
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding
• Ability to analyze data and develop effective infection control strategies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, or a related field
• Certification in infection control (e.g. CIC, CPHQ)
• At least two years of experience in infection control
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
