AIM INDEPENDENT LIVING CENTER
AIM is seeking a Veterans Advocate to join our mission-driven organization. Position Snapshot: To assist veterans with disabilities in achieving their personal goals of independence by providing education, advocacy, information, and referral. Candidate Requirements include: High school diploma and two years of human services experience. Must be a Veteran. Must be computer literate (Microsoft office & Outlook).
Duties Will Include

  • Educate and empower veterans with disabilities to make well-informed decisions regarding options for housing, education, employment, etc.
  • Collaborate with community stakeholders to meet the needs of veterans with disabilities and advocate for fair and equal treatment. Peer-to-peer mentoring.
  • Recruit and coach volunteer peer mentors.
  • Assist veterans with disabilities and their families in navigating human services systems. This may include assistance reading and comprehending formal documents and following through with gathering information and documentation.
