Overview A Health Physicist is a professional who works in the field of radiation safety and protection. They are responsible for ensuring that radiation exposure is kept to a minimum and that all safety protocols are followed. They also work to educate the public on the dangers of radiation and how to protect themselves from it. Detailed Job Description A Health Physicist is responsible for monitoring and assessing radiation levels in the environment, as well as in workplaces and other areas where radiation is present. They must be able to identify potential sources of radiation and advise on how to reduce exposure. They must also be able to evaluate the safety of radiation-producing equipment and develop safety protocols for its use. Health Physicists also work to educate the public on the dangers of radiation and how to protect themselves from it. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of radiation safety and protection protocols
• Ability to identify potential sources of radiation
• Ability to evaluate the safety of radiation-producing equipment
• Knowledge of radiation biology and physics
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in physics, radiation biology, or a related field
• Master’s degree in health physics or a related field
• Certification as a Health Physicist (CHP)
• Experience in radiation safety and protection

• Knowledge of radiation biology and physics
• Knowledge of radiation detection and measurement techniques
• Knowledge of radiation protection regulations
