Grants Business Manager Jobs

Preferred KSAs (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

Advanced understanding of grants and management process in the nonprofit sector.

Minimum: A Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, public administration, communications or other related field of study or equivalent experience.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

The Grants and Data Manager reports to the Director of Programs.

Ensures collaboration between grant management office and other financial areas such as budget and accounting.

Provides training and education as needed for direct staff and principal investigators for grant accounting.

Supervises and directs staff performing grant accounting functions includes pre-award, post award, and close-out.

Develop and hold staff accountable for timeliness, standards and continuous improvement.

Performs grant close outlet functions including reviewing general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy, preparing journal entries, and final federal financial reports.

Supports program staff with grant accounting needs, performs analysis, and supports programs with interim federal financial reports.

Oversees and participates in special projects and programs, as directed by departmental management staff and Economic Development Director.

Provides technical and administrative assistance to assigned management staff; develops, prepares, and presents reports, surveys, and performs other administrative activities.

Plan, organize, and carry out assignments from management staff with minimal direction.

Understand the organization and operation of various departments and of outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities.

Prepare clear and effective financial, statistical, narrative, informational, and educational reports, correspondence, procedures, and other written material.

Develops and maintains specialized databases and systems for recording and tracking grant proposals, awards, and related statistical information.

Support the Director of Finance in preparing reports for the Executive Management Team.

Five years of grant management experience.

Experience in grants-level cash flow management.

Conduct budget vs. actual analysis and provide recommendations to senior leadership to support financial decision-making and project management.

Extensive knowledge of nonprofit budgeting and finance.

Maintain a schedule of all grants receivable and collaborate with the Finance team to develop cash flow projections.

Knowledge of government fund management and regulations and/or previous experience sub-granting to community organizations and consultants preferred.

Knowledge and experience with grants management systems, data tracking, and reporting

Inform and help to implement requirements for software systems to support grants management

At least 2 years of staff management experience, including proven track record in staff development

Proven organization and planning/time management skills; ability to meet deadlines

Change management, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement experience.

Oversee and develop the WFF Grants Management team of 4-6 associates

Analyze grants management related systems to help define project scopes and user requirements.

Minimum 7 years demonstrated experience in project management/grants management

Knowledge of the federal grant review process, and federal grants management systems, and/or meeting planning and execution

Focus on using technical systems integration and data management to streamline the processes and ensure stakeholder awareness through reporting.

Develop team task lists using project management software.

Assist in supporting the organization hosted grants management software by supplying cross training and functional documentation.

Strong project management and organizational skills.

Manage, coordinate, monitor and track Data & Publication Rights and other Intellectual Property issues.

Assure quality and timeliness of work product, and satisfaction of all internal and external customer contract and grant requirements.

Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as Institutional needs and external markets evolve.

Substantial knowledge of federal and client contracting regulations and policies.

Demonstrates the ability to successfully recruit, train, motivate, and manage staff.

Knowledge of or ability to understand Office of Management and Budget (0MB) circulars applicable to sponsored projects.

Three years accounting and/or financial management experience

Work experience in higher education

Three years experience in a business related field.

Experience with preparing journal entries, posting from journals to general ledger, or preparing original general ledger entries.

Experience reconciling accounts and financial transactions.
