Manages fabric development for three contemporary brands - Equipment, Joie, & Rebecca Minkoff

2+ years of experience in sourcing and/or fabric development

Must have some experience in most or all categories: wovens, denim, cut & sew, and yarns as well as wash techniques

Must be extremely organized and have excellent communication skills

Experience in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint

Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator

System Management – Partner up our data entry specialist and teammate to maintain Fabric Data Entry in PLM/EXENTA.

Invoice management- keep track of invoices & pass to AP automated payment system for payment processing.

Lab Dip Management – prepare, launch, track, and comment on all dips across woven, cut & sew and yarns.

Set and manage quality assurance and evaluates and tracks mills and suppliers’ performance.

Responsible for all product testing requirements, compliance, and internal standards

Fabric Detail Sheets (FDS)- review all details and make sure quality meet company requirements.

Identify fabrics that need to be cost engineered and within leadtime and communicate with the Mill management team

Strong experience with knit fabric constructions, dye techniques, finishes, and garment construction and manufacturing/sourcing processes and testing

Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Technology, Fiber or Material Science and 5-10 years of related experience

Basic knowledge of Fibers, knitting/weaving and dye methods

Knowledge and ability to advise engineering team at a high level on cost comparison of preliminary designs and materials.

Exceptional time management and organizational skills

Bachelor's degree or relevant experience

5+ years of experience in the apparel industry

Knowledge of fabric construction standards and manufacturing methods

Working knowledge of garment manufacturing process.

7-15 years experience in Purchasing (as a buyer or senior buyer or Purchasing Manager or Sourcing Manager, Category Management).

Experience purchasing / sourcing fabric directly from textile mills is a huge plus including reserving mill capacity.

Good Analytical Skills analyze costs - compare pricing - labor & materials and determine best value.

Experience managinga 4-6 person sourcing team is a huge plus.

Please Note - Experience in Sourcing | Purchasing products made from Fabric & Textiles is required.

Negotiate pricing and terms of contracts / sourcing / purchasing from textile mills and fabric wholesale markets.

Manages a fabric development process that is aligned and supports our VB strategies, suggests enhancements as needed.

College or university degree in textiles or equivalent work experience

Minimum of 3 years of experience in textile manufacturing or development

Strong experience with fabric constructions, dye techniques, finishes, and garment construction and manufacturing/sourcing processes

Advanced communication skills with proven ability to influence and make decisions

Excellent prioritization and organizational skills
