Job Description

Our client, a well-known American retailer that owns and operates four brands is hiring a Fabric Research and Development Specialist to join their fabric team in San Francisco, CA!


As a Fabric Research and Development Specialist you will be responsible for researching fabric trends specifically for men's activewear and family swim products.


This is a 6-month contract to start with the opportunity to extend or convert!


Responsibilities:

  • Build an archive of historical IPSS fabrics and file fabric swatches in the library that have been approved and used in previous seasons to recommend to Design.
  • Support product integrity by facilitating the testing of all Male Active & Family Swim fabrics as completion of development and reviewing test failures with Sr. Manager.
  • Special projects as required
  • Monitor calendar to ensure on-time deliverables.
  • Create fabric boards for IPSS category that represent seasonal Fabric trends with direction from Sr. Manager.
  • Maintain IPSS fabric information in PLM by creating new fabrications and following up to make sure all information is correct and complete with the GIS offices.
  • Research fabric trends for Male Active & Family Swim which may include attending fabric fairs, mill appointments, online and instore market research etc.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, working with multiple divisions and cross-functional team members.
  • Support Sr. Manager in following up with design, production, mills and overseas offices on any fabric related IPSS issues
  • Work with design, production and GIS mill management offices to develop qualities for Male Active & Family Swim that are cost appropriate for the season and fit Old Navy’s aesthetic
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize as needed.
  • Manage receipt of new fabrics and file accordingly for IPSS category


Requirements:

  • 3+ Years of fabric research experience
  • Strong data management experience with Excel
  • Retail experience
  • Experience analyzing knitwear, activewear clothing
