General Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice Jobs

Professional experience with all aspects of general building maintenance responsibilities.

Certifications in Standpipe, Sprinkler, Air Compressor and FDNY Certificates of Fitness as required.

Scheduling repairs and maintenance around occupancy of campus facilities with emphasis on safety and code compliance.

Maintaining inventory and sourcing needs including tools and equipment.

Responsible for ordering and inventorying of materials

Ability to work unsupervised on assigned tasks.

Ability to pass basic skills and knowledge assessments

Welding experience or certification; Commercial driver’s license or permit

Equivalent academic education and experience

Observes all safety requirements and regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance.

Basic knowledge and use of hand tools and equipment

Field operations experience to include distribution crew work

They will work with Qualified Maintenance Mechanics to attain OJT and develop practical skills within a specified amount of time.

Successful completion of required coursework to develop required Maintenance skillsets

Able to attain basic Maintenance skills

Able to attain basic computer skills

The Maintenance Apprentice will work towards milestones set forth by Maintenance Leadership.

This will be the first step to grow as a Maintenance Mechanic towards higher levels within the progression path.

90 day hands-on training program

Perform job duties in a way that will adhere with Anchor’s Guiding Principles: Integrity, Continuous Improvement, Ownership, Teamwork, and Accountability.

Troubleshoot and repair of bottle manufacturing equipment.

Work on electrical systems up to 480 volts.

Run conduit and install new electrical circuits.

Thread and install new plumbing, i.e. black iron, galvanized and copper

Work with a wide variety of hand tools and power hand tools.

Minimum two (2) years’ experience in general maintenance.

Basic knowledge of the standard tools, methods, practices and safety precautions involved in the particular function assigned.

High School/Vocational School Diploma or equivalency certificate and possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License

Must be available for emergencies and job assignments on a 24-hour basis.

Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and representatives.

Must demonstrate the ability to learn and retain technical information.

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

Skilled Trades position offers a top pay of $32.77/hr.

Utilize basic mechanical knowledge to repair other mechanical and hydraulic equipment as well as electrical equipment.

Four (4) years’ experience troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining hydraulic/ mechanical equipment.

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.

Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and application to understanding fluid, material, and, mechanical, electrical, structures and processes.

5 years industrial maintenance experience in the last 10 years (similar industrial setting)

Must successfully have passed the Career Readiness Certification at the silver or gold level

Must be multi-craft – demonstrate practical and written proficiency in 3 of 5 major crafts: millwright, pipe fitter, instrumentation, electrical, welding

2 year technical associates degree preferred

High school diploma or equivalent

Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (Required)

Perform all duties following safe work practices. Must be compliant with Lock-Out Tag Out and Confined Space programs.

Answer and resolve facilities related service requests for patients and clinical staff.

Responds to emergency situations that include fire, elevator entrapment, water leaks, and utility outages.

Perform various Preventive and Corrective Maintenance tasks to maintain facilities infrastructure, systems, and equipment in the

Complete engineering rounds to monitor the operational status of equipment and systems.

Schedules and attends classes as outlined in Apprenticeship Agreement curriculum.

Supports SPECS, MOS, TQM, and Safety programs and participate on problem solving teams. Also responsible for practicing good housekeeping standards.

Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, using rags, brushes, and grease gun.

Repairs and maintains the physical building structures.

Observes and listens to operating machines to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair.

Basic math skills (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplycation, Division).

Previous experience in the marine industry preferred.

Additional functions and requirements may be assigned by supervisors.

Raise heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.

Assist in the inspection and verification of dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.

Assist in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment and machinery such as pumps and compressors.

Education / Licensure / Certification

Two years of training and/or experience in general maintenance activities.

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Starting at $16+ per hour

General Mechanic will be responsible to make emergency repairs within area of knowledge and responsibility

Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to buildings and facilities

Respond to work orders for troubleshooting, repair and feedback to Supervisor

Coordinate licensed inspections as required

Building carpentry, and maintenance procedures as; HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems.

Ability to communicate with public in a positive, courteous and respectful manner.
