Experienced Copyeditor Jobs

BA/BS preferred, or equivalent education and work experience

5+ years of experience editing communications, preferably as part of a creative team or organization

Extensive proofreading and fact-checking experience

Experience using iWork suite and/or Microsoft 365 is helpful.

Solid proficiency in U.S.-style English, usage, grammar, and punctuation

Familiarity with standard style and usage guides, including The Chicago Manual of Style

2-4 years writing experience, preferably at a business publication or PR agency

Experience in WordPress, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (Photoshop a plus)

Contribute 15 pieces of written content per month, including signature stories and writing guides.

B.A. or B.S. in Journalism, Communications or Public Relations (or applicable field)

Ability to be proactive and assertive

An impressive book of writing clips

Experience as a Copyeditor or a related role, such as a proofreader or content editor

Previous experience working for legal publications or services

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Must have a solid understanding of Bluebook rules

Ability to multitask, drive project deliverables, and provide recommendations

A Juris Doctor, a Doctor of Jurisprudence, or a Doctor of Law is highly preferred

Independent and self-motivated. Being remote, you will need to hold yourself accountable for tasks and ongoing responsibilities with little supervision.

Skilled Typist. 55+ wpm typing speed required.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Attention to detail. You notice every comma, apostrophe, and incorrect usage of italics in everyday life.

Tech-savvy. You learn computer applications rapidly and can point to a variety that you're comfortable using and picked up quickly.

Learns quickly. You’ll demonstrate the ability to quickly absorb and make use of new information.
