Experience in conducting field inspections, investigations, and enforcement methods and techniques

Provide training and education on the state building code.

Four years’ experience inspecting state construction projects and reviewing plan documents.

Working knowledge of the State building code.

Conflict resolution skills, and ability to handle difficult or confrontational situations that are encountered in work assignments.

Knowledge of local and state regulatory functions as outlined in Minnesota Rule 1300, Minnesota Building Codes and federal energy codes.

Inspects sites under construction and/or during operation for compliance with contracts, permits or best management practices.

Knowledge, experience and/or certifications in FICO Originations Manager or Decision Management Platform is a plus

College degree (or equivalent experience) in CIS/BIS/MIS/computer science, Finance, Business Administration or related field preferred.

2+ years experience in mold remediation, water restoration, lead/asbestos abatement, HVAC contracting or construction or comparable industry/role, a plus

Travel to the homeowner or rental properties throughout the country to conduct inspections that meet the needs of the customer

Collect property data on mobile devices and upload to cloud-based software using a defined process

Collect environmental samples from properties, package and send to laboratories for further analysis, as needed

Experience with salt marsh harvest mouse.

Experience with California Ridgway’s rail.

Experience with western snowy plover (Charadrius nivosus nivosus) and nesting bird surveys preferred.

Previous experience conducting environmental inspections or biological monitoring.

Working knowledge of personal computers, including Microsoft Office.

Environmental Compliance Inspector - Permian Basin

West Texas or Southeast New Mexico – exact location negotiable

This position may also support other natural resource field operations and surveys in the Permian Basin.

Inspects construction projects to enforce ordinances and the requirements of erosion control, stormwater management, and other related codes and regulations.

$40,000-$60,000 yearly commensurate with experience.

Knowledge of construction practices, materials, and equipment, and of the various stages of construction is a plus.

Knowledge of State and local erosion ordinances and codes.

Often works around asphalt, concrete, and dust.

Ensures compliance with all applicable codes and regulations; ensures adherence to approved plans, materials, and specifications; and prepares inspection reports.

Minimum Qualifications, Licenses And Certifications

Must have three years of experience as a Code Enforcement Inspector or its equivalent.

FACE certification required within one (1) year from date of hire.

Knowledge of federal, state, and local housing, zoning, and related environmental laws, regulations, and ordinances.

Evaluate storm water run-off from industrial and commercial facilities or mobile operations to determine compliance with best management practices.

Maintain records of inspections and findings, document violations, recommend solutions, and follow-up on violators; input detailed information into multiple databases.

Prepare forms, graphs, memos, reports and calculations of industrial, commercial and institutional accounts for sewer service charge review.

Assist in developing and coordinating training programs; provide leadership and training for other subordinate staff when necessary.

Evaluation of Training, Experience & Personal Qualifications: 30%

High School graduation or G.E.D. (General Education Development)

One (1) year of experience in land development, building construction and city land use planning, including inspection and/or supervision.

Knowledge of the City of Detroit Zoning Ordinance and zoning definitions.

Knowledge of the local building code.

Possession and maintenance of a valid driver's license.

Instructions for Applying: A City Application is required.

Responds to inquiries, concerns, and complaints from the public.

Investigates and documents public nuisance complaints involving property maintenance and Substandard and Dangerous Building violations; obtains photographic evidence.

Issues written correspondence and notices regarding violations; communicates necessary corrective action required to property owners; follows up to ensure appropriate compliance.

Initiates legal action against violators as required; prepares and presents case testimony in court.

Identifies and issues repair/demolition notices for substandard structures.

Prepares, updates, maintains, and/or submits a variety of records, reports, and documentation.

Manage VPDES/VWP projects and support staff to maintain project compliance.

Experience in agency enforcement procedures and violation resolution.

Strong technical writing skills, effective communication, attention to detail and organizational skills

Familiarity with federal and state regulations and permitting requirements as they pertain to wetlands, natural resources, and cultural resources.

Excellent computer skills including MS Word and Excel.

Ability to independently create and work within budgets, manage time, and schedule work.
