Full lab bench utilizing practical hardware experience, model and simulation, image processing, and physics-based algorithms

Experience in image forming systems, interferometry, holography, coherent imaging, adaptive optics, active imaging, three-dimensional imaging, and / or three-dimensional display.

Design, develop, build, and test hardware and algorithmic aspects of optical systems

Proven track record in a hands-on R/D research role

Support development by writing and briefing proposals, responding to RFIs, writing white papers, and participating in proposal reviews.

Conduct research and plans development and design of lasers, infrared, and other light emitting and light sensitive devices.

Proficient computer skills including the ability to navigate and perform needed duties on CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)

Knowledge, Skills, Or Abilities Desired

Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, motors and drives, PLC, and instrumentation and process controls

The wages for this position range up to $36 based on qualifications

Works with production personnel to troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues

Works in conjunction with outside contractors and/or vendors as well as OEM’s to troubleshoot and make repairs to plant equipment

Education and experience in optical module and system design

Deep knowledge of light sources including plasma light sources, lasers and LEDs

Experience in assembly and alignment of optical systems and modules

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Lead specification, design and performance verification of optical sub-systems.

Lead stray-light analysis, polarization calculations, scatter modeling, physical-optics modeling (incl. diffraction, interference, scattering) and Fourier analysis.

Follow customer product development milestones as well as internal program management processes for successful milestone deliveries and fulfill quality gates.

Good experience and knowledge in LED, OLED, TFT, LCD, DLP, laser, thin film filter, polarizer, IR/UV cut filters and manufacturing technology

Employ computer aided simulation tools to design and optimize head-up displays (HUD) to meet customer requirements.

Participate in design reviews with customer (OEM) in design competition for resolving system implementation issues, ensuring customer requirements are met.

Help establish optical test facility and build a strong optical knowledge base for future opto-mechanical product line.

Apply past experience, lesson learnt and strong engineering principles to improve DFMEA

Direct program managers and tooling engineers regarding optical design requirements

Face to face/written interaction with customers/senior management

Responsible for design and development of optical designs which fulfill all customer and legal requirements

Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, Program Managers, Project Managers and Tooling Engineering

Create and evaluate supportive technical documentation for Program Managers to present to the customer

Keep abreast of domestic and international photometric legal requirements
