Demonstrated experience as a skilled and thorough editor

A passion for and experience in the lifestyle space

Assign and edit 3-4 daily digital stories in the autos vertical, from short-form news items to long-lead features

Edit short news items as needed to support the daily publishing schedule

Work with the autos editor and freelance contributors to produce 8-10 digital features in the autos category every week

Work with the digital director to conceive new story franchises and develop online editorial packages

Excellent communication, organization, leadership and time management skills

1-4 years' experience working in a fast-paced digital environment with increasing editing/assigning responsibilities

Knowledge of digital content best practices, SEO, and audience development tactics

Excellent organizational and communication skills

Plan, assign, edit, and produce within monthly and annual editorial calendars

Develop stories that will meet audience and traffic goals

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of relevant working experience

3+ years work in a digital newsroom environment, ideally with opinion journalism experience

Must have demonstrated experience with assigning and editing stories

Must be a skilled editor with outstanding communication skills

Work closely with our opinion and blog editors to edit and produce multiple pieces a day

Pitch opinion stories on a daily basis for our staff writers, freelance contributors and experts as well as MSNBC on-air talent

Bachelor's degree or equivalent and comparable years of working experience

Experience creating shareable content on Instagram

Working knowledge of Photoshop and graphic design

Execute day-to-day posting strategy for MSNBC’s flagship Instagram account and its visual storytelling efforts across Facebook and Twitter

Manage and maintain footage archives and backups

Expert level knowledge of Adobe Premiere

Expert level operating knowledge of handheld gimbal
