All other job duties will be directed by the Warden.

Must have 12 months or more work experience with SCDC.

Instrumental in the prevention, detection, and seizing of contraband items at the institution.

Responsible for inmate drug testing.

Assists with cell searches, contraband retrieval, employee searches, vehicle searches, and dorm searches.

Provides the Warden with pertinent information as it relates to gang activity and suspicious behavior at the institution.

Must successfully complete the Correctional Officer Basic Certification Course within first (6) six months of placement into the position.

To promote safety and security of all property stored in property room.

Maintain a restricted key to property storage room.

Maintain a permanent property control log of all confiscated property.

Ensure all property received or stored is properly tagged, sealed, and has a completed inventory (Form 19-2) attached.

Ensure all authorized personnel entry in the property room only.

Must successfully complete the correctional officer basic certification course within first six (6) months of placement into the position.

Gathering, collecting, and assessing intelligence related to security threats.

Monitor and identify inmates who are seen associating with gang members.

Interview and photograph all new arrivals.

Complete paperwork/packets on inmates who are suspected to be involved in gang activity.

Assist contraband staff in searching cells of suspected gang members.
