Job Responsibilities

• To promote safety and security of all property stored in property room.
• Maintain a restricted key to property storage room.
• Ensure all authorized personnel entry in the property room only.
• All others must sign-in on the property employee log sheet.
• Ensure all property received or stored is properly tagged, sealed, and has a completed inventory (Form 19-2) attached.
• Maintain a permanent property control log of all confiscated property.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
SCDC Minimum Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Must pass a physical examination administered by SCDC.
• High school graduate or GED
• 18 years of age or older
• Cannot have been convicted of a crime with a maximum allowable sentence of one year or more, or a fine of $1,000.
• Tattoos: Must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head. Tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
• Must successfully complete the Correctional Officer Basic Certification Course within first (6) six months of placement into the position.

SCDC INTERNAL APPLICANTS: Must also have completed Defensive Driving Training and cannot be on the “No Drive List and or the No Draw List” with SCDC.
