Computational Scientist Jobs

Work with engineering experts (local and remote) to gather and understand software requirements and implement new engineering models.

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities

Work with local and remote teams to find, trouble-shoot, and resolve software issues.

Familiarity with software engineering concepts such as object-oriented programming, with the desire to expand this skill set.

Develop and improve engineering-level models for implementation into user-friendly software.

Proficient in one or more object-oriented language such as .NET, Java, and C/C++.

Literature review and investigation to identify key requirements on structure-based computational design for specific GPCR binding antibodies.

Great communication skills, (oral and written), along with a proven record of presentations and publications.

Experienced in research of GPCRs family would be highly desirable.

Hands-on experience in wet-lab techniques, coupled with a willingness to undertake training for additional wet-lab support tasks.

Experienced in molecular dynamics, simulation, physics-based computations or similar. (In particular of Rosetta).

Exceptional collaborative skills are a crucial, as the role requires working closely with a multi-functional team.

2-4 years of experience developing theory and applications to solve challenging real-life data science problems.

Experience with designing computational methods and tools.

Prior knowledge of neuroscience and/or neurodegenerateive disease biology is preferred, but not required.

Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

Develop, implement, and apply computational tools on genomic datasets.

Work closely with biologists to interpret and understand the data.

Extensive experience with high-performance scalable data-intensive distributed/cloud computing environments utilizing scientific workflow management systems ensuring data integrity and consistency

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong programming skills (Python/R preferred) combined with proficiency in software engineering best practices (version control, documentation, deployment, unit/integration testing) (required)

Working knowledge of applying statistical modeling to draw robust conclusions from complex datasets

Implementation and maintenance of production-scale pipelines for the analysis of diverse sequencing data

Design and benchmarking of novel analysis pipelines for newly established assays and increasing reliability and throughput of existing systems

Experience with remote homology detection on protein and RNA desired

Design and implement biological mining pipelines

Curate novel candidates and nominate candidates for downstream characterization

Stay current on the field and think deeply about creative new ways to have an impact

Contribute to the lab through teamwork and discussion

MSc or PhD in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, molecular biology)

Subject matter expert in algorithm development, bioinformatics, data integration and management, visualization, analysis, and presentation

Graduate degree and seasoned experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related field

Experience with large -scale data sets such as those from NGS

Excellent communication skills to effectively work with various departments in the organization to deliver information

A doctoral degree and post-doctoral experience in computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology or related field is preferred.

Analyze large biological data sets to build accurate predictive models of biological processes and publish original work.

Collaborate with internal and external researchers to analyze and interpret novel results using newly derived methods.

Contribute to ongoing projects in the group and successfully define and develop their own projects.
