Boiler Operator Trainee Jobs

Minimum of two years’ experience in the operation of steam boiler plant

High School Diploma or GED

Must be available for weekends, evenings, nights, holidays, emergencies and scheduled work/outages

Must adhere to and follow shift coverage procedures

FDNY G-91 Supervision of Natural Gas Co-generation System within 6 months of hire

FDNY A-35 Air Compressors within 6 months of hire

Facility maintenance experience or training.

Requires walking throughout the facility and grounds, climbing, kneeling, crawling, squatting, and pulling (as necessary for maintenance).

Steel-toed safety shoes and safety glasses required.

Must be able to regularly lift loads of up to 50 pounds.

MAINTENANCE SUPPORT / BOILER OPERATOR

Fulfill the responsibilities identified in the Declaration of Inspection (DOI) and United States Coast Guard Manual.

Assist in other areas of the terminal as requested by Supervisor/Manager.

Good communication and math skills.

One year industry related experience is preferred.

Comply with all internal, environmental, and safety policies, rules, and regulations.

Ensure proper connection and disconnection of any hoses or pipelines.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

General knowledge of hand and power tools and their use.

Mechanical, electrical, HVAC, boiler, and/or plumbing experience in a commercial/industrial setting.

Monitor/operate equipment in the Steam Plant to include various boilers.

Ability to understand and operate computers and maintenance/controls software.

Must have High school diploma or equivalent education

Benefit enrollment begins within 30 days of hire date and coverage will become effective on the 90th day of employment.

Depending on the job location, lodging and rotating schedule may be provided.

Under supervision, you will learn basic safety, repair and operations procedures on equipment and tools for this job.

Assists in the completion of pre and post job equipment inspections and associated paperwork and/or reports.

Assists in rigging-up and rigging-down of operation equipment which can include high-pressure iron and hose connections.

Responsible for general maintenance and operation of the boiler plant

Work is assigned on a long-term, as well as on a day-to-day basis

Performs regularly scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs boilers, safety devices, pumps and other equipment throughout the boiler plant

Knowledge of safety codes and practices.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Operate, maintain and repair HVAC equipment, including absorbers, centrifugal, cooling towers and air handling units.

Take readings on all equipment; power house, all mechanical areas. List readings daily on the Boiler Report Sheet.

Prepare boilers for seasonal inspection.

Repair and overhaul all steam equipment, valves and motors.

Basic computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office

Demonstrated knowledge of the safety and operation of power plant equipment

Experience with large industrial chillers, high pressure steam equipment and large reciprocating and centrifugal air compressors

High school diploma or GED

Must have active 1st Class Steam License from Shelby County

Must have active Refrigeration license.

Demonstrated ability to organize work, solve medium to complex problems and manage competing priorities and inflexible deadlines.

Work experience in maintaining and operating digital control systems.

Operate, maintain, and repair two central plant Centrifugal Chillers and associated equipment.

Perform inspections, installation, repair, and preventive maintenance on existing equipment including valves, pumps, air compressors and associated equipment

Troubleshoot and repair A/C Units, Heat pumps and appliances.

Operate, install, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC computerized control system.

Experience operating high purity water demineralizer systems (2 trains, cation, anion, cation polisher).

Experience operating softened water system (4 softeners, cation).

General knowledge of Ovation DCS.

General knowledge of Mark V turbine control system.

Control Room Operator serves as both a Control Room Operator and Outside Operator if needed.

A minimum of 3 years experience as Boiler Operator is required.

Knowledge of plumbing and piping

Operate, maintain, and service boilers, air compressors, chillers, hydraulic pumps, clarifiers, and cooling towers.

Rebuild worn pumps, valves, and repair or replace piping systems.

Assist other team members in providing information or collecting data relative to the plant services.

Maintain an inventory of parts and reorder supplies.

Two years previous manufacturing experience preferred.

Review work order specifications or instructions to determine materials, ingredients, procedures, extracting, forming, pressing and compacting materials to produce pellets.

Adjust machine components to regulate speed, pressure and temperatures of machine, amount, dimensions and flow of materials and ingredients.

Monitor machine operations and observes indicator lights and gauges, such as thermometers, voltage meters and timers to detect malfunctions.

Perform/coordinate maintenance on equipment per job instructions.

Perform/coordinate housekeeping to required standard.

Blowdown Hammermill, inside and out each shift.

Inspect Hammermill blades and screens each shift.

Load walking floor from mix pile. (Build mix pile)

Check silo levels at beginning of shift and periodically during shift.

Maintain proper moisture of wood chips leaving dryer.

Maintain proper feed rate of dryer so Dry Silo won't run low.

Advise management of any unusual conditions and perform all assigned duties during emergency situations

Has strong knowledge of standard kitchen equipment

Has strong knife skills and understanding of basic cooking techniques

Has strong knowledge of health and safety regulations

Can maintain knowledge of menu items

Manage industrial water storage tank for fire water and feed water use

Must possess basic computer skills and have the ability to work from verbal and written instructions.

Operate industrial 500 HP fire tube boiler and 1000HP water tube boiler with 100% makeup water

Perform tests to determine chemical levels in feed water and condensate
