Conduct field, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments

Collect, organize, and maintain field, greenhouse, and laboratory data

Conduct standard molecular assays including DNA extractions, PCR, and qPCR

Participate in partner interviews, surveys, and focus groups

Assist with analysis and visualization of ecological, social, and genetic/genomic data

Working knowledge of computer programming and operation, desktop and electronic publishing and modern digital imaging skills and database management.

Knowledge and experience with genetics and their application to the study of biodiversity

Assists the Director and other staff in organizing and implementing training and educational workshops.

Participates in the development of training materials, exhibits, and BPBM activities associated with education and outreach as needed.

Coordinates with other Collection Managers and Curators in the museum to voucher new specimens for the PCMB collections.

Master’s degree in biology or related field, or 5+ years of experience working in biodiversity research and/or collections-based research.

3+ years of experience with ecological consulting and/or wildlife management plans, and/or community relations

Demonstrated experience in project management, reflected by on-time and on-budget delivery of results

Work closely with current and prospective WHC Conservation Certification® participants to initiate sound biodiversity and conservation education projects

Develop and deliver conservation, employee engagement, STEM education, community outreach and program building recommendations.

Knowledge of multiple ecosystems in the United States and abroad

Knowledge of biodiversity concepts and their application across geographies

Significant experience with tools, methodologies, and approaches used for biodiversity impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation.

Advanced degree in an environmental field

Ability to create clear, concise, and well-organized communications (written, oral, and visual) for various external platforms and channels.

Experience of nature reserve management planning and design of wildlife habitat creation projects.

A good understanding of conservation land management techniques/constraints in a variety of habitats.

Record keeping and data management using databases and mapping software such as ArcGIS and Merlin (RSPB bespoke system)

Relevant knowledge of compliance requirements in terms of wildlife and environmental legislation.

Degree level/equivalent experience in ecology or relevant biological science

Knowledge of biodiversity net gain and Defra’s biodiversity metric to establish baseline condition and potential for biodiversity ‘uplift’

A list of current academic research that shows how biodiversity credits are incorporated into protected areas management.
