Assistant Property Accountant Jobs

Five (5) years of experience in residential property management and affordable housing

Follow the organizations and Property Management policies and procedures, including safe work practices.

This property will house veterans with disabilities that have also experienced homelessness in addition to veteran families.

Process paperwork for applications, move-in, move-outs, initial/re-certifications in compliance with regulatory agencies’ procedures.

Complete annual and interim re-certifications and perform annual and as needed unit inspections.

Knowledge of affordable housing programs (i.e., HUD, Tax Credit, Section 8, MOH)

Proficiency in property management software

Moderate experience in affordable housing, property management, public housing, fair housing, general management OR

Utilizes excellent time management and problem solving techniques, and use of professional judgment in complex situations; demonstrates strong project management skills.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Prepare and manage certification schedule; process all certification types for submission to the appropriate internal or external partnerships.

Assisting with managing the operations as directed by the Property Manager.

2-3 years of experience in property management.

Helps with the preparation of reports needed on the overall management of the facility and necessary repairs.

Communicates with management regarding deficiencies of outside contracted services.

Maintain your required licenses, certifications and mandatory skill updates.

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of occupancy requirements per HUD Handbook 4350.3 “Occupancy Requirements of Subsidized Multifamily Housing Programs.”

Knowledge of GAAP and reconciling experience.

Interact with property and regional managers daily.

At least 1 year of experience in multi-family apartment accounting.

Full cycle accounting and accounts payable experience.

Experience with Yardi software required.

Maintain GL and financial statements daily.

Two+ years progressively responsible commercial property management experience.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organization and analytical skills.

Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.

Acts as primary contact with tenants; directly involved with all aspects of property operations and daily administrative tasks.

Perform periodic regular property inspections. Recommends alterations, maintenance and reconditioning as necessary. Contracts for vendor selection and oversight.

Ability to communicate with residents, co-workers and management tactfully

Assume Property Manager's duties in absence

Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned

Intermediate computer and data-entry skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Minimum 2 years of recent fee-based property management accounting experience

Review all tenant billings and adjustments according to information provided by the Property Manager

Working knowledge of financial terms and principles; ability to apply GAAP

Experience utilizing real estate accounting software, preferably MRI and/or Yardi

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred

Assist in review of prior year CAM, real estate tax escalation reconciliations and answer questions from auditors

Solid computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Office Suite to include Teams, Word and Excel. Yardi Property Management Software experience preferred.

A minimum of one-year of residential leasing and/or management experience required.

Excellent management and communication skills.

Strong administrative and organizational skills with excellence in time management.

Knowledge of on-site maintenance requirements including dealing with vendors and contractors.

Manage budgets, accounts, rent collections, and tenant notices.

2 or more year’s experience in multi-family property management

Assists Property Manager with maintaining building security measures, documenting incidents, and sending proper notification to management, owners, and insurance carriers

Assists Property Manager with conducting and documenting annual unit inspections and annual recertification of residents

Maintains knowledge and awareness of corporate in/out migration, property competition, and other market conditions affecting leasing and operations

Manages property’s answering service, ensuring superlative customer service, up-to-date calling sequences, and accurate contact information

Maintains familiarity with all procedures and requirements of accounts payable and accounts receivable
