Assistant Copy Editor Jobs in Ohio

Marketing or related field and 5+ years' experience in editing required, preferably in advertising, marketing or publishing fields.

Firm grasp of style rules, including Associated Press style, and experience using an in-house editorial style guide.

B.A. in English, journalism, or comparable academic background.

Understanding of communications in print, digital, social media environments.

A critical, careful eye for detail and familiarity with editing web, advertising, promotional and other content

Ability to meet immediate and changing deadlines, work with multiple editors, and meet the highest standards of composition.

Mentor and review editors with less experience and collaborate with other Senior Copy Editors to create standards for the editing team

5+ years of professional copy editing experience (i.e., not just editing your college roommate's papers)

Strong communication skills and an ability to work with writers, marketers, content marketers and team leaders

BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and experience in English or a related field

Experience working with the US Government Publishing Office requirements, a plus.

4 years of experience in editing.

Experience working with the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association: 7th Edition.

Generate ideas for stories, blogs, and newsletter articles.

One to two years of work experience required.

Online or print editorial experience preferred.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Knowledge of art, ability to discuss composition, color, and design required.

Knowledge of core comic book mythologies and terminology required, with preference given to those who understand the comic book industry.

Must have the ability to work well under time constraints, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks and project elements simultaneously.

Help maintain a shared media storage and asset management environment.

2 - 3 years of assistant editing experience at a studio, network or post production facility.

Extensive knowledge of Resolve, Avid Media Composer, and Adobe Premiere Pro.

Extensive knowledge of codecs, image types, file formats, resolutions and frame rates.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills as well as juggling competing priorities and changing expectations.

Knowledge and interest in current trends in video and post-production technology.
