Job Description

Manhattan Strategy Group (MSG) in Bethesda, MD, is seeking a junior copy editor to carry out tasks quickly but with great attention to detail. This position will entail assisting with editing materials in a fast-paced environment, including proposals, annual project reports, and other public-facing documents for federal clients.

You will work with a team to ensure projects run smoothly. You must be familiar with the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association: 7th Edition and edit for plain language requirements. Familiarity with the US Government Publishing Office requirements is a plus.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors. Develop and update style guides to govern how content is created.
  • Check content against an applicable style guide.
  • Generate ideas for stories, blogs, and newsletter articles.
  • Edit and fact-check content.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and experience in English or a related field
  • 4 years of experience in editing.
  • Independent and collaborative work with content and design teams. Respond to assignments in a timely manner, adhere to project timelines, and participate in cross-team collaboration for multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Work efficiently in a remote setting and adapt to working with peers across multiple time zones. Ability to work at a standard computer setup for 20+ hours per week with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Cultural sensitivity and equity representation in products are mandatory.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive with a mindset for innovation and a willingness to learn new methods and accept constructive feedback with grace and enthusiasm. Use good judgment and take initiative.
  • Experience working with the US Government Publishing Office requirements, a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association: 7th Edition.

This role is for a part-time employment position.
