Job Description of Assistant Cook The Assistant Cook is responsible for assisting the Head Cook in the preparation and cooking of meals for the restaurant. The Assistant Cook will be responsible for following recipes, preparing ingredients, and ensuring that all food is cooked to the highest standards. The Assistant Cook will also be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and its equipment. Job Skills Required
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
Job Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in a kitchen or food service setting
• ServSafe certification (preferred)
Job Knowledge
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment and tools
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
• Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements
Job Experience
• Previous experience in a kitchen or food service setting
• Previous experience in a restaurant setting (preferred)
Job Responsibilities
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and measuring
• Follow recipes and instructions accurately
• Cook food according to recipes and instructions
• Monitor food while cooking to ensure it is cooked properly
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and surfaces
• Ensure food safety and sanitation regulations are followed
• Assist with food preparation and plating
• Assist with cleaning and organizing the kitchen
