While growing the collection, the archivist will also work toward improving discoverability of material in a collection backing.

Documents all completed steps in BPL digitization workflow in appropriate shared documents and project management applications.

Broad knowledge of Library policies, practices, and procedures.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Working knowledge of archival appraisal and arrangement best practices.

Thorough knowledge of file naming best practices.

Knowledge of basic preservation and handling techniques for rare and fragile items.

Training, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Bachelor's Degree in history or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Assist the Museum and Archives Manager in creating and implementing Archives programs.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft and Google applications.

Previous experience working with archival materials.

Possesses skills in researching print and microfilm sources and websites for the purpose of gathering and collating data for patrons.

Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.

Possesses skills in intermediate to advanced computer operations.

Salary: $45,000 annually plus the State of Tennessee benefits package.

Communicates complex information to individuals and small groups.

Applies sound analytical thinking to problem-solving.

Assists with Archive Records Management Program for accession and destruction of materials according to guidelines.

Knowledge of and experience using retention schedules and records surveys.
