They also provide access to these materials to researchers, historians, and other interested parties. Detailed Job Description Archivists are responsible for organizing, cataloging, and preserving documents, photographs, and other materials in order to make them available for research and reference. They must be knowledgeable about the history and content of the materials they are preserving and must be able to identify and classify them according to their historical significance. They must also be able to accurately describe the materials in order to make them easier to locate and access. Archivists must also be able to provide access to these materials to researchers, historians, and other interested parties. Archivists must also be able to develop and maintain databases and other systems for cataloging and organizing the materials they are preserving. They must be able to use computer software and other technology to store and manage the materials. They must also be able to create and maintain digital archives and other digital collections. Archivists must also be able to provide advice and guidance to researchers and other interested parties on the use of the materials they are preserving. They must be able to answer questions and provide assistance in locating and accessing the materials. Job Skills Required

Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in history, library science, or a related field

• Certification from the Academy of Certified Archivists
