Lab Animal Technician Asst Jobs

Performs physical assessments and develops diagnostic sampling and therapeutic management proposal of cases.

Establishes management protocol and initiates treatment.

Annual Salary Range: $94,375.00 - $153,355.00 (Commensurate with qualifications and experience)

Supervises animal health technician(s), monitors schedule and assures coverage of responsibilities.

Manages ARP and IACUC veterinary medical and surgical programs to assure the health, well-being and humane care of research animals.

Work Arrangement (final schedule to be determined by the department/hiring manager)

Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Achieve Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification from AALAS within 1 year of beginning employment.

Two years of experience with animals in any capacity.

Able and willing to attend required personal hygiene and personal safety training on an annual basis for certification.

Provide coverage of the duties of laboratory animal caretakers/cagewash staff as needed.

Provide feed, water, clean cages, and enrichment devices for conventional, BSL-2and BSL-3 animals in a safe and sanitary manner.

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Performs and shares all the job responsibilities designated for the positions of Lab Assistant II and Lab Assistant I as assigned.

Acts under the direction of the Laboratory Coordinators in other necessary activities if consistent with training, education, and professional ethics.

Two years laboratory experience (including phlebotomy)

Experience utilizing a Laboratory Information System, preferably Misys.

Knowledge of specimen send-outs and microbiology specimen processing, preferred

Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and certification requirements, preferred

Must be a self-starter, have excellent time management and organization skills

1 - 2 years of relevant work experience protein purification or in a Research Scientist position preferred.

Strong computer skills as well as ability to collect, organize, and interpret data.

Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to interpret, summarize, and present scientific results in a clear, concise, accurate manner

Effective organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple and changing projects and priorities.
