Job Description
Position Summary


The Director of Operations will work with the Vice President of Operations and Infrastructure to support the development and maintenance of YWCA USA's operating environment. This includes overseeing and supporting core functions such as events management, facilities, and contract compliance/management. The Director of Operations will ensure adherence to YWCA USA's operating policies and practices through training, monitoring, and evaluation. The position will also involve supervising departmental managers, developing and implementing policies and procedures, managing special projects, and coordinating with various teams within the organization.


Accountabilities


Management


  • Organize and oversee the work and schedules of departmental managers.
  • Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
  • Ensure alignment of internal policies with best practice, organizational mission & values, and current applicable legislation.
  • Support coordination and integration of efforts among operations, finance, technology, and human resources.
  • Manage disciplinary action and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
  • Other duties assigned by the Vice President of Operations & Infrastructure.


Policy and Procedure Development


  • Develop recommendations for continuous improvement of policies and processes.
  • Coordinate with the Vice President of Operations to address areas of vulnerability, risk, and deviation from internal policies.
  • Maintain and update master repository of all YWCA USA general operations standard operating procedures.
  • Lead the development of new administrative policies and procedures.
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase adoption of YWCA USA's standard operating procedures.
  • Implement and monitor policies and procedures to improve day-to-day operations at YWCA USA.


Performance Evaluation and Reporting


  • Provide supporting documentation as needed to validate YWCA USA's internal control structure related to audit & IRS filings.
  • Support the development and implementation of a project management strategy related to audit, six-month end, and IRS filings.
  • Analyze and report consultant outcomes relative to equity-based metrics, stated deliverables, cost, and other attributes of significance.
  • Support ongoing collaboration with the Finance & Human Resources teams by uplifting relevant historical approaches, resources, and coordinated responses to operational needs.
  • Provide ongoing training and development for the Operations Manager, Events & Convenings; Operations Manager, Facilities & Office Management; and Operations Manager, Compliance & Contracts.
  • Support the development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of general operations KPIs.


Requirements


You will be successful in this role if you possess the following experience and core competencies
  • Demonstrated experience in general operations, facilities, event management, and finance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing multi-faceted, complex projects with teams.
  • Experiences
  • Experience managing priorities and metrics for success; skilled at managing and setting priorities and scope of deliverables for a team.
  • A minimum of 7 years working in the not-for-profit industry.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Skilled in building collaborative relationships with others
  • Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to meet strategic goals
  • Comfortable with utilizing technology to increase workplace efficiency
  • Proficient in project management and Microsoft Office
  • Innovative thinker with a track record of translating strategic thinking into actionable tasks

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred, or equivalent relevant working experience.

Compensation and Benefits


In order to counter pay inequality and uphold internal parity, salaries are non-negotiable for new and current employees. YWCA USA salary bands for a given staff level are benchmarked to the 75th percentile for our sector, and all new employees are paid at the entry point of those bands. Employees then have the opportunity to progress through current salary bands through annual cost of living increases and performance-based pay increases, and into new salary bands through promotions.
