Job Description

This position plays a dual role coordinating two school-based programs within Montgomery County, Maryland that work to address childhood food insecurity. The Family Market Program is a monthly farmers market-style distribution of healthy groceries, with an emphasis on fresh produce, to children and their families at risk of hunger at school sites in Montgomery County.?The School Pantry Program provides shelf-stable food items and produce for in-school food pantries to create a consistent food access point within schools.

The Youth Nutrition Coordinator (YNC) manages a portfolio of approximately 50 MD school sites to ensure quality and consistency is maintained across each program. This position is responsible for placing food orders, collaborating with CAFB colleagues to ensure program excellence, and communicating effectively with the site coordinators to ensure a positive experience for all clients.

Essential Functions:



Program Administration (85%)

  • Provide excellent customer service to school site coordinators and partners;
  • Monitor regular site distributions and provide guidance to site coordinators;
  • Develop monthly menu and place orders within program specifications for Family Markets and School Pantry Programs;
  • Recruit and onboard potential new school sites as program expansion allows;
  • Present Family Market and School Pantry Program site leader trainings on an annual and as-needed basis;
  • Facilitate the improvement of the program operational model with the DDP Manager, School-Based Programs;
  • Ensure monthly distribution calendar is accurate and communicate delivery details with the transportation team for all orders;
  • Maintain communication and collaboration with other school system representatives, food providers, and community organizations within the service region in the interest of shared mission;
  • Address site coordinator concerns in a productive and respectful way;
  • Maintain regular communication with school sites to ensure seamless program implementation;

Monitoring and Compliance (15%)

  • Maintain and update all records and pertaining to the Family Market and School Pantry Programs specifically around grants management;
  • Manage monthly reporting and client participation as required by Food Bank or any of its supporters;
  • Exercise safe food handling and warehouse safety practices
  • Maintain communication and collaboration with other school system representatives, food providers, and community organizations within the service region in the interest of shared mission
  • Monitor sites and be responsive to site coordinators to ensure program guidelines are met;
  • Recruit and onboard potential new school sites as program expansion allows;
  • Visit each site twice annually to provide oversight and support;
