Job Title: Registered Radiology Technician

Overview:

The Radiology tech performs radiographic procedures for the center including general radiographic procedures, fluoroscopy and C-arm requirements. The position is under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and involves good communication skills with all areas of the center and a thorough knowledge of procedures and equipment to perform any needed x-ray requirements.

Position Scope:

Performs procedures according to protocol; responsible for radiology equipment and supplies.

Position Functions:

  • Demonstrates clinical competence throughout the delivery of patient care.
    • Demonstrates thorough understanding of all radiology equipment.
    • Demonstrates proper use of all radiology equipment.
    • Demonstrates thorough understanding of principles of radiation safety.
    • Maintains principles of aseptic technique.
    • Assists physician in performing procedures.

  • Clinical competence is demonstrated through ability to correctly perform skills in the competency checklist at an overall acceptable performance level. Ensures all team members comply with radiation safety policies and reports infringements. Ensures all equipment records are current.
  • Monitors work time as it relates to case volume.
  • Orders and stocks needed supplies for department. Reports problems to appropriate person.
  • Demonstrates financial responsibility for the containment of facility cost.

    • Demonstrates proper use of equipment, devices and supplies to reduce repair cost and decrease unnecessary expense.
    • Monitors work time as it relates to case volume.

  • Performs other duties as needed to ensure the safety and comfort of all customers as well as the efficient operation of the facility.

Education and Experience:

Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology.

Currently licensed to practice in the State of FL

Certification in BCLS.

Minimum one year experience in Radiology preferred

Membership in ARRT encouraged.

Physical Requirements:

Work is physically and emotionally demanding. Therefore, employee must have excellent physical and mental health. The work requires sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling and lifting (a minimum of 30 lbs. required). Occasionally climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, twisting, crouching and reaching is required. Near visual acuity is required as well as hearing adequate to hear audible alarms, speech must be adequate to clearly communicate.

There is a risk for potential exposure to hazardous substances, toxic waste and radiation exposure, as well as a potential exposure to blood and body fluids. Also, frequent noise exposure is to be expected. Mechanical and electrical exposure is possible due to equipment. This position Involves high level of stress.
