West Virginia State Director - Remote | Wfh

We are looking for a passionate and experienced land conservationist to lead our team in West Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing conservation real estate projects, fundraising for project completion, and building partnerships with local organizations and government agencies.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a strategic vision for land conservation in West Virginia
Deliver conservation real estate projects
Identify and secure funding for land conservation projects
Build partnerships with local organizations and government agencies
Conduct GIS analysis and map creation
Prepare grant proposals
Coordinate real estate project activities
Conduct site visits and landowner contacts
Coordinate due diligence activities
Prepare reports on mitigation and real estate projects for funders, agencies, and partners
Lead the State Program Office annual planning, goal setting, and budget process
Support the organization’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives
Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff
Oversee the daily workflow of the West Virginia Office
Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in land conservation real estate
Proficiency in all aspects of conservation real estate, including fee simple, conservation easements, partial interests, oil/gas reservations, minerals, timber, gift lands, and conservation buyers
Strong Negotiating Skills And Transactional Real Estate Experience
10+ years of experience in non-profit fundraising, with a proven ability to lead and successfully complete major project fundraising efforts
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork within an entrepreneurial environment
Experience working with local, state, and federal conservation land acquisition and funding programs
Experience working with landowners
Familiarity with real estate in West Virginia
Solid understanding of natural resource and land use issues in West Virginia
Experience in using ArcMap/ESRI GIS applications
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public presentations
Willingness and ability to work cooperatively with a wide range of individuals and organizations with diverse backgrounds
Computer skills including word processing, e-mail, and spreadsheets
Attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Ability to travel in order to reach various field locations
