Welder - Apprentice Jobs

JOB DESCRIPTION: To perform basic MIG welding according to AWS D1.1 and D14.1 Standards as required by Engineering prints and Standard Work Instructions (SWI). This position is associated with tack-up operations and finish weld operations under the guidance of a Welder I or higher associate.

Responsibilities:

• Fabricate weldments by welding steel plate, profiles or castings.
• Operate according to all LTI Safety standards.
• Other as directed by area Technician.
• Keep equipment clean and in proper operating condition
• Read schedules, gather proper equipment, acquire and follow LTI prints, and follow LTI SWI’s to complete task.
• Operate forklift and cranes as required.
• Perform required QA checks according to Standard Work Instructions or CPS.

Education and Qualifications:

• Ability to read a blueprint. Physical Requirements
• Ability to follow written Standard Work Instructions.
• Ability to pass an AWS style written test and an AWS D1.1 and D14.1 weld test.

• Personal protective equipment required due to glare and heat
• Exposure to minor burns and flying objects such as chips and scale
• Attention and care required to prevent injury
• Ability to stand for a 10 hour shift.
• Work requires stooping and bending
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and do mechanical work under less than ideal conditions at times
