Job Description
Responsibilities:

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PIW is a 130 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PIW has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. Situated in the safe, historical Tenleytown neighborhood, PIW is one mile from the Tenleytown Metro stop and within walking distance to local cafes and restaurants.

CORE COMPETENCIES:
  • Demonstrates the security procedures by screening and directing visitor, patients and vendors as they enter the building.
  • Demonstrates the hospital’s customer services standard.
  • Maintains confidentiality procedures for all patients, visitors and vendors to the hospital.
  • Knowledge of all disaster, fire and internal emergency plans and procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to screen and direct incoming calls as well as act as a message center.
  • Knowledge of the transportation options to and from the hospital; Ability to give directions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains on-call lists for Administration, Doctors, PRN Pool, Pharmacy, Maintenance and others as necessary.
  • Receives and releases interoffice delivery and Federal Express packages.
  • Trains other personnel in performing relief telephone functions.
  • Sells meal tickets and accounts for funds.
  • Monitors the van lending policy for Purchasing Department by maintaining signing in and out badges for van key.
  • 30% tuition savings on RN-BSN, MSN, MPH, and MSW degree and certificate programs
  • Ensures the safety of patients, staff, and visitors in the event of an incident or emergency.
  • Operates telephone to relay incoming, outgoing, interoffice, and message center calls.
  • Facilitates the implementation of security procedures by screening and directing visitors and patients as they enter the building.
  • Contacts Fire and Police Departments as dictated by policy.
  • Makes visitors feel comfortable and assures that they will receive immediated attention from the appropriate person.
  • Performs responsible clerical tasks under general supervision using knowledge of office procedures and hospital regulations.
  • Maintain confidentially procedures for vendors and visitor.
  • Acts as information clerk.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Candidates must meet the company’s hiring criteria to include a pre-employment verifications, background investigation and drug test.
