Job Overview

Jeffco Public Schools is seeking creative and experienced web designers to join our DigitalPlatforms department on an 8- to 12-month contract in support of a website redesignproject. The goal of this project is to deliver focused content through a user-friendly websiteplatform that champions digital equity and accessibility in service of our diverse schoolcommunities.

Successful candidates will possess expertise in creating visually appealing and accessible web interfaces across the district's website, intranet, and over 130 school websites.

Essential Duties

• Collaborate with the Communication Services and Digital Platforms departments tounderstand project goals, user requirements and content structure for effectivewebsite design.

• Design visually engaging and intuitive webpages within the CMS (contentmanagement system) that align with the district's brand identity, usability standardsand best practices.

• Ensure consistency in design elements, color schemes, typography and brandingacross different webpages and sections of the websites.

• Collaborate with the Web Services team to implement designs, ensuring seamlessintegration and functionality.

• Optimize graphics, images and other visual elements for web use, ensuring optimalloading times and responsiveness.

• Ensure compliance with relevant legal and accessibility standards, such as ADAcompliance, Section 508 guidelines and WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a web designer with a strong portfolio showcasing successfulwebsite designs.

• Proficiency in CMS environments, preferrable Finalsite Composer.

• Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, usability and user experiencebest practices.

• Strong visual design skills with an eye for typography, color and composition.

• Familiarity with responsive design techniques to create interfaces that functionseamlessly across different devices and screen sizes.

• Understanding of SEO principles and the ability to optimize design elements forsearch engine visibility.

• Understanding of web accessibility guidelines (ADA compliance, Section 508, WCAG2.1 Level AA) and their impact on web content creation.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work within project timelines and deadlines.

• Ability to effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to both technicaland non-technical stakeholders.

• Familiarity with educational institutions or experience in the education sector ispreferred but not required
