Job Description
Are you ready to make an impact through your creative skills and passion for diversity and inclusion? We are dedicated to promoting racial equity and embracing diverse perspectives. We're seeking two talented and enthusiastic interns to help us create an inclusive website that represents our ongoing work and connects with our vibrant community.
About Us
We prioritize racial equity in the workplace because we understand the significance of addressing inequities that affect people of color the most. Our commitment extends to engaging with historically underrepresented groups in the field to foster an inclusive and equitable environment. We are driven by the belief that art has the power to empower social justice and drive structural change, promoting equity in our society.
Position Overview
You will collaborate closely with our Website Project Manager to craft a website that reflects our values and connects with all members of our community. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the advancement of racial equity and inclusion through innovative design and user experience research.
Your Responsibilities
Conduct user experience research, analyze qualitative and quantitative data, and gather insights.
Facilitate and document usability tests of prototypes with research participants.
Identify website accessibility challenges and propose effective solutions.
Collaborate with various departments to gather and organize information for the website.
Learning Objectives
During your internship, you will thrive in a multi-departmental organization, building meaningful professional relationships and applying your unique perspectives and leadership experience to make a difference. You will gain valuable skills, including:
Facilitating UX research sessions effectively.
Analyzing data and presenting findings to key stakeholders.
Tracking key performance indicators and participating in project management processes.
Qualifications
Prior experience with UX research or web design is preferred, but not required.
Demonstrated understanding of research methods through various media platforms.
Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to articulate goals and progress effectively.
Familiarity with concepts related to interaction design and information architecture.
Passionate about racial equity, intersectionality, and social justice.
Proficiency in general computer use, Microsoft Office, and preferably UX design software.
Working Conditions
You will work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with some on-site presence due to the hands-on nature of the internship. Remote work may be available on a flexible schedule.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly rate: $18.69 (non-exempt position).
Paid sick time and access to SAM Savings & 403(b) Retirement Plan.
Fringe benefits include guest passes to SAM, access to RIC Fitness Center, Tier III AAM membership, discounts, and more.
Employment Type: Other
Salary: $ 18.00 Per Hour
