PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is located at the North Campus Operations of the Aurora Water Department near Fort Lupton, Colorado
Salary to be commensurate with experience
The hiring range for this position is $21.51- $26.89/hourly
OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
Performs manual labor and assists with routine maintenance and repair functions for The North Campus Operations of the Aurora Water Department.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs routine equipment maintenance.
  • Performs grounds maintenance and land management.
  • Assists work crews in the installation, repair, operation, and maintenance of raw water infrastructure, piping, valves, and other operating systems.
  • Loads and unloads tools.
  • Assists with snow removal activities.
  • Uses tools such as hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.
  • Repair and replacement activities.
  • Performs janitorial and routine building maintenance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
  • At least 1 year of manual labor experience that includes experience in construction, water, or mechanical industries.
Knowledge:
  • Basic knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and operating procedures commonly utilized in the water industry.
Skills:
  • Skills in using and maintaining devices, tools, and equipment related to assigned function.
Abilities:
  • Perform manual labor for extended periods of time
  • Work overtime and emergency call back duty.
  • Understand oral and written instructions
  • Lift a minimum of 50 pounds repetitively
  • Operate or receive training on various types of maintenance and construction equipment
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  • Colorado driver's license with a good driving history.
  • Ability to obtain a Colorado Commercial Driver's License A or B within department guidelines.
  • Colorado Commercial Driver's License A or B is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential Personnel:
  • When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the city, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
  • Requires frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
  • Frequently performs activities requiring a full range of body movement including bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
  • Clear vision to read and interpret reports and other written document
  • Hand/eye and hand/foot coordination for operation of equipment and vehicles
  • Considerable walking and standing.
  • Heavy physical work occasionally requires ability to lift a maximum of 100 pounds.
  • Hearing/listening for instructions and warning signals.
Work Environment:
  • Works primarily outdoors in all weather conditions with exposure to noise, dust, and fumes. Some work may be performed in confined spaces.
Equipment Used:
  • This position may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g., vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) during their employment.
  • Operates equipment and vehicles common to utilities maintenance functions and agricultural industry.
  • Uses standard office equipment including personal computer and common office software such as email, internet, Word, Excel and menu driven databases as a part of the library automated systems.

  • This position requires the selected candidate to report for work and live within 45 minutes of Ft. Lupton..
