Rogers Group is currently seeking an experienced Water Truck Driver in Huntsville, Alabama. This position will support crews and projects in the Huntsville area. The successful candidate for this position will have previous experience driving a Tankers with Tanker Endorsement on CDL. They must possess a strong commitment to safety excellence. This individual must be safe, self-motivating, have a clean driving record, must possess appropriate CDL and prior experience.
Drives truck equipped with Water Tank, in support of Milling Operations
Wages starting at $21.00/hr. and up. Some positions require no experience and Rogers Group will train. Higher pay for skilled operators of heavy equipment with mass grading experience. Overtime is available and extensive medical and retirement benefits.
- Keeps floorboards, stepping areas, and hand holds free of trash, grease, rags or other obstructions that hinder operation.
- The Water Truck Driver position requires an extreme amount of body movement and some manual labor including, but not limited to leg movement, engaging/disengaging clutch, depressing brake pedal and accelerator, and climbing onto bed; wrist and arm movement, changing gears, steering of vehicle and operating of controls; neck movement, moves head back and forth to see out of side mirrors; manual labor, digging materials from bed, and if required, assisting crews with general labor work, i.e. shoveling, etc.
- Obeys weight limit when loading truck.
- Exhibits "defensive" driving skills.
- The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, bend and twist at waist, crouch, or crawl.
- Monitors dash gauges (oil, temperature, air, tachometer, speedometer, amperage and pyrometer).
- When changing gears, always double clutches.
- Completes and submits a daily truck report.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and the ability to recognize the colors of traffic signals and devices showing standard red, green and amber.
- Checks engine oil, power steering fluid, coolant level, fan belts and windshield wipers.
- Checks tires, headlights, marker lights, stop lights and turn signals.
- Obeys State and Federal trucking laws.
- Monitors conditions to the sides and rear of vehicle by means of the rear-view mirrors and spot mirrors.
- Submits daily logs that comply with Company, State and Federal Regulations.
- Inspects vehicle for defects and notifies management of said defects on Driver Daily Report. Does not drive vehicle with known defect that could cause injury or property damage.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Adheres to all company, client, and project policies, procedures, standards, including but not limited to the safety manual, the employee handbook, and the fleet safety manual.
- Operates vehicle in a safe and professional manner regardless of location, speed limit, and traffic.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Constantly monitors company radio for change of assignment and dispatch.
- Checks vehicle to ensure it is safe to operate.
- When starting vehicle in motion, always uses lower gears.
- Answers directly to the Milling Supervisor.
- The employee is occasionally required to work long hours, (normal work hours average 10 to 12 hours per day; conditions may dictate up to 15 hours to complete the project).
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Drives and Operates Water Truck in support of Milling & Paving Operations
- The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 years truck driving experience preferred. Experience with trucks equipped with third axle.
- Presents a professional image as an employee.
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful traffic or other situations.
- Displays a positive attitude.
- Ability to get along with others.
- Must maintain a valid CDL License.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Must adhere to company policy to receive a current Medical Examiner's Certificate.
Ability to work evenings and nights as needed, to support construction operations.
