Job Description
Job Summary:
Summary:
Drives tractor-trailer combination, or boom truck and pup, to transport and deliver products in a timely, efficient and safe manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Tarp and double strap loads as needed. All flatbed trailer and boom truck with pup loads must be strapped correctly per D.O. T. regulations. Loads are tarped for the following conditions: rain, snow, wet or sloppy road conditions.
  • Operate semi tractor & trailer, or boom truck with a trailer and deliver product using equipment, including truck mounted forklifts and conventional forklifts.
  • Ensure that all required paperwork is accurate and delivery tickets signed by customer and turned into supervisor/dispatch daily.
  • Drive truck to destination in a timely and safe manner. After arriving at destination, unstrap and unload product in a professional manner.
  • Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor/dispatcher to receive delivery instructions.
  • Pick up empty bags, pallets and silos. Record accurate empty bag and pallet returns on delivery tickets or pallet return form.
  • Position product/silos and secure them for transit in accordance with D.O.T. regulations for load securement.
  • Maintains daily D.O. T. Log Book according to I.C. regulations and review logged hours with supervisor/dispatcher.
  • Pre-trip inspection of truck pursuant to D.O. T. regulations. Pre-trip inspection includes checking fluid levels of engine oil, anti-freeze, tire pressure, brakes and other driver operated controls for load and unloading.
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs, such as installing light bulbs, marker lights and reflectors.
  • Use map book and experience to take most direct route to customer and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Upon arrival, the driver must be able to safely maneuver truck in often very unstable ground conditions, safe observation of customer’s equipment and conditions.
  • Operate boom, forklift/tailgate/truck mounted forklift safely and efficiently. Must be forklift certified as required by law.
  • Assists production workers in loading and unloading truck.

Qualifications:
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A
  • Valid D.O.T. Health Card.
  • Ability to pass Federal Department of Transportation drug screen and physical.
  • Must have driving experience.
  • Maintain driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier Regulations, and meet company policy requirements.
Physical Demands:
  • Must lift tarps and strap them and unloading.
  • Finished product lifted occasionally weighs between 50 lbs and 94 lbs.
  • This would be considered moderately strenuous work. There are various postures, movements, lifting, and carrying requirements as follows: 60 – 65% of an 8-hour work day is spent sitting.
  • .Pallets which need to be stacked weigh 40lbs to 100lbs.
