Job Description
THE POSITION
Department of Land Use & Transportation is currently hiring a Warehouse Supervisor to support our road maintenance crews and other division and department staff. This exciting position works with internal and external customers as part of the division's management team, building and fostering professional relationships with county staff as well as external vendors, service providers and contractors. Experience working with road-related materials (i.e. - asphalt, rock, paint, signs, pavement markings, culverts, bridge components, herbicides, hand tools, power tools, etc.) are a plus, but are not necessarily required.
The Position
The Warehouse Supervisor includes the full range of duties and assignments related to the procurement of goods and services as well as warehouse oversight (stocking, distribution, receivables, and inventory control). The acquisition of goods and services is accomplished through a variety of means including, but not limited to, Request for Proposals, quotes, purchase orders and contracts. Additionally, this position is the division's liaison for Fleet Services, which coordinates assorted vehicle and equipment related issues including replacements, new acquisitions, modifications, and repairs. The Warehouse Supervisor also oversees the division's small tool supply which includes hand tools and power equipment (i.e. chain saws, backpack blowers, etc.). Also, the Warehouse Supervisor is REQUIRED to be part of the On-Call rotation (one week every 5 weeks) with the other Road Maintenance Supervisors. This rotation involves after-hours availability on a 24/7 basis during the supervisor's given shift. During the On-Call assignment, the supervisor works directly with the 911 dispatch center as well as the assigned crew members to respond to assorted road related issues and incidents. Also, during emergency response situations (such as snow, ice, high water, wind, earthquake, etc.), the Warehouse Supervisor will be expected to support the division and participate in these events by working various assigned shifts during round-the-clock schedules, which could include holidays and weekends as well as swing and night shift assignments for an extended period of time.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can handle a variety of tasks and assignments independently while also working collaboratively with co-workers, vendors, and contractors. The ideal candidate can also learn to anticipate the needs of the division by ordering materials, establishing contracts and renting equipment in a timely manner. They have experience with warehouse inventory control, ordering, contracting, supervising, dispatching and are comfortable with radio and telephone communications. They are calm under pressure and are prepared to work in support of public safety during emergency situations including severe weather. The successful candidate is familiar with using and learning assorted technology including modern office software programs as well as databases and contracting programs. They are comfortable with data entry, record keeping and can reliably submit reports on time. This candidate is a team player who must have the capacity to act respectfully as a central point of contact for staff of various roles and backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess a driver’s license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; AND
  • Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or procurement which includes a minimum of two (2) years lead or supervisory experience.
  • Associate Degree in business, management, logistics or a related field preferably in communications, construction, engineering, or related program; AND
  • Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or procurement which includes a minimum of two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience; OR

Selection Process
